. . . but spring is in the air.
A Patch of Old Snow
There's a patch of old snow in a corner,,
That I should have guessed
Was a blow-away paper the rain
Had brought to rest.
It is speckled with grime as if
Small print overspread it,
The news of the day I've forgotten --
If I ever read it.

Nice poem, Jet. I hadn't read that one. Lots of patches of old snow this year. So odd for February.
Reminds me of my teaching days. Used this one during our April Poetry Month unit. The kids could relate to it so easily.
We haven't had enough snow to get those old patches yet. Still hoping...
Well, Mary Lee, we have old patches here in NH, as Joyce knows. Not old enough for me, though. I cannot wait for spring.
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Janet
Love this one, Jet.

Those last lines are a comfort to me, since I feel guilty often for not keeping up with news/politics very well--and not really wanting to!
