Tomorrow the moon will be full once again. With the air so crisply fall-like, it's a good time to be dancing by the light of the moon.
Full of the MoonJoin the dogs tomorrow and howl and yowl and dance! But now, head over to Paper Tigers for the Round-Up.
by Karla Kuskin
It's full of the moon
The dogs dance out
Through brush and bush and bramble.
They howl and yowl
And growl and prowl.
They amble, ramble, scramble.
They rush through brush.
They push through bush.
They yip and yap and hurr.
They lark around and bark around
With prickles in their fur.
They two-step in the meadow.
They polka on the lawn.
Tonight's the night
The dogs dance out
And chase their tails till dawn.

Diane,
Thanks for the full moon information and this poem.
Thanks for this bit of joy on a dreary Friday morning, Diane.
I'm happy you guys are up so early--must be because you have dogs!
I really like Karla Kuskin's poetry - and this is no exception. So full of motion, yet almost calming, as well.
I once saw a t-shirt that said, "Plan for the day: Let dog out. Let dog in. Let dog out..." It was never more true for me than on full moon days. There was just something calling to my dogs. They ran outside happy and not sure why.
That last line would be my dog! Gorgeous poem.
Sounds like fun, but this dog just needs a nap!!
Dogs and cats are about the same, they can dance, but don't stop them from napping!
I'll have to look up the effect of a full moon on dogs. Do you think it's been studied?
Thanks everyone for stopping by, have a great weekend!
I love this, it's so fun! My dog would love it too. I may have to read it to her :)
Fun!
