Poetry Friday

Forget about the lawn mower and the shopping list.  Forget about the laundry and the dishes.  You're not getting any younger and neither is the day.  Get out and enjoy it!

Today

So here has been dawning
another blue day;
Think, wilt thou let it
slip useless away.

Out of Eternity
the new day was born;
Into Eternity
at night, will return.

Behold it aforetime
no eye ever did;
So soon it forever
from all eyes is hid.

Here has been dawning
another blue day;
Think, wilt thou let it
slip useless away.

Thomas Carlyle

Linda, at Teacherdance is hosting today's Poetry Friday.
Go on over and say 'hello' and then read her goodbye poetry.

It took me a few readings to understand and appreciate.

Good choice for today, sun should arrive here in NH before the day slips useless away.

Don't let the long weekend slip useless away either!

I love the photo that accompanies the poem. The colors are striking. Thanks for sharing both.

Great to hear. (I'm happy to avoid the wash!) Thanks for this, Andi!

Thanks for this admonishment. The sky is blue outside. The breeze is hot. I think I'll go out and sit in the sunshine.
